North Carolina small business health insurance

North Carolina small business health insurance laws require North Carolina health insurance companies to sell any small business offer at least two state standardized plans to any small businness that qualifies. Also, the same small group health insurance policy sold to other small businesses must also be offered to any eligible North Carolina small business. To be eligible, the small business must have at least 2 employees but not more than 50.

North Carolina health insurance companies, however, can mandate minimum participation requirements. Under this stipulation, a certain percentage of employees or members must purchase the offered health insurance policy or the entire health insurance policy for the small business will be rescinded.

Employers may also need to contribute a certain amount towards their employee's premiums before the health insurance company agrees to sell a North Carolina small business health insurance policy to the group.

Although North Carolina health insurance companies are required to sell all small businesses health insurance if the above requirements are met, the price of North Carolina small business health insurance is only lightly regulated.

Premiums for North Carolina small business health insurance can be more due to the group's health status and risk.

Furthermore, as a protection for groups insured under small business health insurance, North Carolina health insurance regulations do not allow policies to be canceled because one of the insured individuals falls ill.

Self-employed North Carolina health insurance

Different states have different rules for dealing with health insurance for the self-employed. In North Carolina, the owner of a small business can purchase a North Carolina small business health insurance policy, even if there are no other employees.

A self-employed individual can either purchase a North Carolina small business health insurance policy or an individual North Carolina health insurance policy.

Both choices have their own unique advantages.

If you choose the former, the protections and advantages of having small business health insurance is guaranteed. If you choose the latter, part of your premiums can be deducted from your taxes.
